GOBOLUX is Andrew Nelson and Kim Su Theiler’s artband. The New York-based
artists Andrew and Kim Su experiment with the video genre to create pieces that
are at once fleeting and tangible, transparent and opaque. This is displayed
in the work Untitled 1: Trompe l’oeil by dramatizing the light in a
room set for stage. The heart of the piece is to create what cannot be found,
placing
the viewer right in it.
“If we cannot reanimate those who only exist in our memories, maybe
it is possible to make ourselves as vaporous as the flickering, fading image,
and thus for those moments exist in the same world,” Andrew and Kim Su
explain. In that moment we are both actors and viewers, trapped in the gesture
of looking.
Bio: Andrew Nelson
In the summer of 1984 Andrew started working in NYC, and eventually became the
studio photographer he is today. Throughout those years he played in the experimental
band, Azalia Snail, the punk rock band, The Thing, an indie rock band, Poem Rocket,
and today has come full circle to be the drummer in the punk rockband, The Racket.
